Infant rescued from suspected human trafficker in Southern California Border Patrol agents at the San Clemente checkpoint rescued a child whom they believe was a victim of human trafficking, agents announced on Wednesday.The rescue occurred around 1:40 p.m. Friday when agents spotted a vehicle with a male driver and an infant and referred the car to secondary inspection, U.S. Border Patrol said in a statement.“The driver said he picked up the infant in Otay Mesa and did not know the child’s name or where he was taking the child," agents said.Otay Mesa is a mostly commercial and industrial area in San Diego just north of the U.S.-Mexico border.Child Protective Services took custody of the child and the case was turned over to the Department of Homeland Security.The status of the driver was not released.“Due to the vigilance of our agents, we were able to prevent this child from being trafficked and potentially exploited,” said San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Aaron M. Suspect photos in 3 attempted murder cases released; Los Angeles Police Department urges victims to come forward Authorities with the Los Angeles Police Department on Monday released the photos of three men in custody for unrelated cases of attempted murder in hopes additional victims of unreported aggravated assault or attempted murder involving the suspects will come forward.  The first incident occurred Dec. 15, around 9:30 p.m., in a parking lot located in the 3200 block of West Florence Avenue.  The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Kaleb Cotton, who was armed with a handgun, approached a vehicle with four occupants, two women and two men, and fired multiple rounds into the car. One of the men was hit in the head by gunfire and critically wounded. Virginia By Kristina Sgueglia and Eric Levenson | CNNA CSX freight train derailed Wednesday morning after striking a rockslide in a remote area of West Virginia, injuring three crew members and spilling diesel fuel into a nearby river, according to a company press release.The three crew members were in the locomotive, which caught fire after the derailment, and are being treated for non-life threatening injuries, CSX said. Two were airlifted and the third was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, a Summers County Office of Emergency Management dispatcher told CNN.Diesel fuel and oil spilled into the New River, and containment measures will be deployed, CSX said. The company also noted that the coal train was empty and was not transporting hazardous materials. NHTSA probing 16 deadly Tesla highway crashes WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KRON) -- A deadly crash involving a Tesla on Insterstate-680 in Contra Costa County is the latest wreck being investigated by national transportation officials. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Wednesday that it suspects the Tesla was operating with its automated driving system on when it slammed into a fire engine on I-680 in Walnut Creek on February 18.A Contra Costa County Fire Protection District engine was being used as a traffic safety barrier to protect paramedics working at a previous crash when the Tesla slammed into the engine. The 2014 Tesla Model S's driver was killed, a Tesla passenger was severely injured, and four firefighters suffered minor injuries. The February 18 collision is one of 51 crashes nationwide -- including 16 fatalities -- currently under investigation by the NHTSA's special crash investigation teams.
