Former President Donald Trump attacked the nation’s capital as a “filthy and crime-ridden embarrassment” as the leading Republican candidate in the 2024 race seeks to move his federal trial on conspiracy and obstruction charges to a more politically friendly venue.“NO WAY I CAN GET A FAIR TRIAL, OR EVEN CLOSE TO A FAIR TRIAL, IN WASHINGTON, D.C.,” Trump wrote in an all-capital-letters post on Truth Social, his social media site. He called for a U.S. takeover of the city — which has limited home-rule powers under congressional supervision — a move he said would be unpopular with potential jurors. In a separate post, Trump said he will be asking for recusal of the judge on the case “on very powerful grounds,” without citing any evidence. He said Judge Tanya Chutkan, who was appointed by former President Barack Obama, a Democrat, couldn’t be fair.Trump is accused in an indictment handed down last week in Washington of knowingly spreading lies about the 2020 election being rigged to unde...Patriots training camp Day 12: Matt Judon returns with 3 sacks, Bill Belichick’s defense strikes back

FOXBORO — Shortly after the Patriots reported for work Sunday morning, fresh off a rare off day, they split into meetings.Offensive players holed up in separate rooms from their defensive teammates As always, Bill Belichick’s assistant coaches rolled tape from the team’s previous practice and voiced constructive criticisms to sharpen the players’ focus and performance. But according to safety Jabrill Peppers, his group received something different.A “ration.”The defensive coaches were supposedly dismayed over what they’d seen in Friday night’s film, despite the relatively relaxed nature of that practice. So hours later, armed with their coaches’ fury and feedback, Patriots defenders struck back at Bill O’Brien’s offense over one of their best days of the summer. All three quarterbacks were intercepted Sunday, while they combined for eight would-be sacks over more than 50 dropbacks in live team drills. During the Orioles’ surge this summer to the top of the American League standings, manager Brandon Hyde has frequently said he’s wary of how much he’s used his dominant relief duo of Yennier Cano and Félix Bautista. The vast majority of the Orioles’ wins have been close, and the middle of Hyde’s bullpen has shown cracks, causing the fifth-year skipper to oftentimes overuse Cano and Bautista in high-leverage situations. Entering Sunday, Cano had pitched in over half the games he’s been on Baltimore’s roster for, while Bautista had pitched on back-to-back days 10 times and more than one inning on eight occasions. On Sunday afternoon against the New York Mets, Hyde managed his bullpen as if its middle relievers have the same fortitude as the All-Star pairing on the back end. Orioles relievers Cionel Pérez, Cole Irvin and Shintaro Fujinami — all of whom have struggled this season — combined to pitch 3 1/3 scoreless innings to...Dungeons & Dragons tells illustrators to stop using AI to generate artwork for fantasy franchise

The Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game franchise says it won’t allow artists to use artificial intelligence technology to draw its cast of sorcerers, druids and other characters and scenery. D&D art is supposed to be fanciful. But at least one ax-wielding giant seemed too weird for some fans, leading them to take to social media to question if it was human-made.Hasbro-owned D&D Beyond, which makes online tools and other companion content for the franchise, said it didn’t know until Saturday that an illustrator it has worked with for nearly a decade used AI to create commissioned artwork for an upcoming book. The franchise, run by the Hasbro subsidiary Wizards of the Coast, said in a statement that it has talked to that artist and is clarifying its rules.“He will not use AI for Wizards’ work moving forward,” said a post from D&D Beyond’s account on X, formerly Twitter. “We are revising our process and updating our artist guidelines to make clear th...SIU investigating pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by police car
